SMS Services

Our SMS mobile communication service - that is, sending and receiving short text messages via a mobile phone - enables you to produce and manage SMS keywords and to use dedicated or shared SMS shortcodes.

A couple of definitions first of all:

SMS code / keyword
An alpha-numeric text at the beginning of an SMS message that the mobile end-user must send to a shortcode in order to request or activate a particular service.

Shortcode
A 4-digit abbreviated number to which the mobile end-user can send an SMS for a certain fee. The fee tariff varies between € 0.15 and € 4.00 per message. Approximately 45% of the message fee is paid out by the mobile operator.

For dedicated SMS shortcodes, the tariff can be chosen by the customer, ranging from € 0.15 to € 4.00.

For our shared SMS shortcodes, the following tarrifs are available: € 0.5 per SMS, € 1 per SMS, € 2 per SMS.

Here are the types of SMS offered:

• Mobile Terminated Bulk (MT-B)
  An SMS sent from our gateway at no cost to the receiver.

• Mobile Terminated Reverse Billed (MT-RB)
  An SMS sent from our gateway, where the receiver pays a certain amount to receive it. The fee varies between € 0.15 and € 4.00 per message. Approximately 45% of the message fee is paid out by the mobile operator.

• Mobile Originated (MO)
  An SMS message originating from the mobile end-user who sends an SMS to a shortcode with a certain SMS code. The same fee charges as MT-RB are present with MO.

Our SMS service also offers you free use of the following SMS applications:

• SMS sending (incl. address book)

• SMS voting

• SMS chat

• an open API (via HTTP GET or HTTP POST), whereby the SMS data are forwarded to your ASP or PHP script, so that you can write an application yourself.
